Patient Care Services

Information for this section will come from the Physician and Clinic Directory (PCD) database so that it can be easily located via the main “Find a doctor or clinic” page at http://www.med.umich.edu/healthcenters. To avoid confusing patients looking at your clinical service information, the academically-oriented main navigation links will not be displayed in this section.

You’ll be provided with a worksheet specific to your department to help you through this process, but here is an overview of what will happen:

  1. You will review existing content in the database, including physician information, clinic information, phone numbers, etc., and make necessary edits/corrections.
  2. PRMC will provide you with a list of “keywords” that are currently associated with your services for you to review.
  3. PRMC will prepare a list of conditions and/or treatments associated with your department based on the reviewed keyword list, Health Topics and HealthWise (this ensures that we are able to link to patient education materials when the HealthWise product is available) for your review.
  4. You will draft a patient-focused program statement to include:
    • Scope of service
    • Age and gender of patients seen if applicable
    • Points of Excellence - What distinguishes your departmen
  1. PRMC will enter the approved list of conditions and treatments associated with your department into the database. Each of them will be linked to the specific clinical services where the condition can be treated or the treatment can be performed.

When all steps are completed, your department’s Patient Care Services page will be generated from the database. It will include the program statement, and a list of conditions and treatments, with each condition/treatment linking to the specific service(s) associated with it.
