Last case problem . . .

It is deep in January, and a nearby nursing home reports multiple cases of influenza. Two patients were recently hospitalized for severe pneumonia, and both expired. At the hospital, influenza virus type A was identified in these two patients. A review of the nursing records indicates that 60% of the patients had received a flu shot in the past 4 months. All but one of the 12 suspected cases occurred among the 40% of patients who did not receive vaccine. The one case in a vaccinated patient was very mild.

What could you recommend to control this outbreak (more than one may be correct)?

A. Revaccinate all the residents of the nursing home.
B. Give vaccine to the unvaccinated residents.
C. Give an antiviral medication to all susceptible residents.
D. Give vaccine to any personnel that did not get a flu shot.
