Last case problem . . . It is deep in January, and a nearby nursing home reports multiple cases of influenza. Two patients were recently hospitalized for severe pneumonia, and both expired. At the hospital, influenza virus type A was identified in these two patients. A review of the nursing records indicates that 60% of the patients had received a flu shot in the past 4 months. All but one of the 12 suspected cases occurred among the 40% of patients who did not receive vaccine. The one case in a vaccinated patient was very mild. What could you recommend to control this outbreak (more than one may be correct)?
