Love is a 48-year-old woman from downstate Illinois who thought of other people before herself. Love is my son who loved his father enough to give him a kidney.

Love is the feeling my wife and I have for both of my kidney donors.

Transplantation has been a positive and humbling experience for me. I have met wonderful caring people through two transplants, in and out of hospitals. People who give love to transplant recipients give with no thought of gain for themselves.

I try to return this affections by volunteering to help people with kidney problems, but I can never return all of the love and affection that has been showered on me.
