B. Influenza vaccine-naive children should receive a double or triple-strength vaccine.

This is a strategy that is available to patients over the age of 65 who may also have inadequate vaccine responsiveness. The high-dose vaccine is thought to provide better efficacy in this age group, but it also causes more of the typical adverse symptoms associated with flu vaccine (e.g., transient fever, myalgia, local inflammation at the injection site). This approach is not recommended for young children.
