Grand mal seizures, though often preceded by some aura can be quite
abrupt.
The brief recovery time is typical for syncope due to paroxysmal complete AV block especially when it is transient or when there is prompt resumption of a reliable escape rhythm.
This differs from syncope due to both a neurocardiogenic mechanism (prolonged fatigue) and a grand mal seizure (postictal confusion).
