- This young woman had no abnormality on Physical Examination.
- Her resting electrocardiogram was likewise normal.
- Her history was consistent with SVT:
- Young, with low probability of structural heart disease.
- Abrupt onset and, at least at times, abrupt termination.
- Variable duration of attacks (not stereotyped).
- No significant cardiovascular symptoms associated with attacks.
- Attacks at home…(safe place).
- The tendency for patients to feel like urinating during sustained
SVT is related to the release of atrial naturetic hormone from the atria.
- Because of a high probability, clinically, of SVT, she was referred to Cardiology.
