The Reed Nesbit Society Meeting
Reed M. Nesbit Society and Visiting Professor Meeting
On behalf of the University of Michigan faculty and staff, we invite you to the annual Reed M. Nesbit Society and Visiting Professor Meeting, October 22-23, 2009, in Ann Arbor.
The meeting will begin on Thursday, October 22, at 1:30 pm at the University of Michigan Palmer Commons. This year’s Visiting Professor will be Mark S. Litwin, MD, MPH, FACS, professor in the UCLA Schools of Medicine (Urology) and Public Health (Health Services). He holds the only such joint faculty appointment in the US and practices urologic oncology there. His particular area of academic interest is in Health Services Research – an area which he and our own John Wei, MD are the acknowledged national leaders. Dr. Litwin will be speaking on “The Burden of Urologic Disease in America and Why Health Services Research Matters to the General Urologist.” He will also address the topics of caring for the uninsured with prostate cancer in California and quality of life in men with prostate cancer. A welcome reception will follow in the evening at the newly expanded and restored U of M Museum of Art.
The scientific session will resume Friday morning with presentations by UM faculty, alumni, residents and Dr. Litwin. For the new endeavor to feature experts outside of urology, we are happy to announce that Coach Lloyd Carr has agreed to speak on Friday, October 23, about “The Michigan Difference On and Off the Field,” and will join us for lunch, so bring your camera for a photo opportunity!
