Planning Process:

Since early spring 2009, a number of teams have been engaged in assessing the current state of U-M research and possibilities for expansion and alignment in light of the proposed purchase of the former Pfizer property. Several other teams have focused on proposing entire new institutes to leverage the University's strengths in particular fields.

Now that NCRC is part of U-M, these teams are nearing the end of their process, as are teams focused on the core facilities, IT resources and public-private partnerships that go hand-in-hand with innovative research.

U-M faculty/staff/students: There is still time to submit your thoughts through the Call for Ideas form.

The final reports being prepared by these teams will guide the Directors Committee as it makes recommendations to the President and the executive vice presidents. Those recommendations will address the most promising directions for research growth, the best uses of NCRC by current and new research teams, and potential uses of “backfill” space that will be created as laboratories and offices move to NCRC from the main and medical campuses.
