U-M announces executive director position for North Campus Research Complex

The University of Michigan is seeking a full-time Executive Director for the North Campus Research Complex, President Mary Sue Coleman announced in her state of the school address Oct. 5.

This individual will report to the Executive Vice President for Medical Affairs and work closely with the deans and leaders on the NCRC project, including those from the Medical School, Engineering, Public Health, Pharmacy, Dentistry, the Office of the Vice President for Research, Literature, Science and the Arts, Architecture and Urban Planning and Nursing.

U-M officials hope to identify an individual for this role during the fall, with the selected candidate in place by early 2010 to direct the project at the former Pfizer property that U-M purchased in summer 2009.

Planners at NCRC, however, do not plan to slow their efforts in the meantime and will continue to work on initial occupancy and refinement of innovative models for research and education at NCRC.

President Coleman also announced her plans for a technology transportation forum next semester, an intensive planning summit that she hopes will develop more efficient ways to move people back and forth across campus, including to and from the NCRC property.
