Robert W. Lash, M.D., professor of internal medicine in the Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology & Diabetes, was recently elected by the University of Michigan Health System medical faculty as their new chief of staff. His three-year tenure began July 1. As chief of staff, Lash provides oversight of the peer review process, credentialing and privileging, and enforcement of the Medical Staff Bylaws and Policies. In assuming the role of chief of staff, Lash will remain an active member of the MEND Division, and continue his inpatient and outpatient clinical responsibilities. Lash joined the medical staff of the University of Michigan in 1996, coming from the University of Maryland's School of Medicine in Baltimore. He received his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed his internship and residency at University of California, San Francisco. Lash did his endocrinology training at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases at the National Institutes of Health. During his tenure at UMHS, Lash has served as fellowship director of the Endocrinology and Metabolism Training Program, co-director of the Combined Endocrine-Obstetrics Clinic, director of the Diabetes Disease Management Program and medical director of the Diabetes Education Program. |
