Services at PRMC
Public Relations and Marketing Communications are responsible for internal and external communications support and strategy for the U-M Health System, including the Hospitals and Health Centers and the Medical School. This includes:

Advertising – confused about whether to advertise or not? We can help sort through the pros and cons, the costs, develop the right message, pick the right media and prioritize the target audiences

Banner Ads on the UMHS Home Page – Banner Ads are used to highlight a program, event or announcement. It often acts as a teaser, directing people to a subsequent URL to learn more. See examples at www.med.umich.edu. Two banner ads are in rotation per week—click refresh until you see two both ads. Anyone can submit a request. Either contact your marketing representative or follow the directions below:

Branding/Brand management – We can show you how to leverage the power of the UMHS brand identity for your program, clinic or department

Brochures and posters - including using the cost-effective UMHS branding template program

Marketing Communication Campaigns - which usually consist of two or more mediums to communicate with the target audience(s)

Communication plan development - in which goals and objectives, key messages and other plan elements are outlined

Direct mail – we can show you how to create an effective targeted mailing program

Electronic communications – we can also show you how to reach your target audience using the Internet

Giveaways – we can help you find just the right giveaway for your marketing communications plan

Graphic identity – we’ll help you navigate the guidelines and policies of both the Health System and the University of Michigan

Publications and newsletters– if your communications plan calls for a publication or a newsletter - print or electronic - we can help

Tours and event-planning - Most community oriented programs for the Hospitals and Health Centers are handled by the Community Health Services program. Some examples of the work handled through PR include planning for open houses and special events, and the release of general information about the Health System

Web site development and maintenance - for programs and departments. PR also manages the Health System and Medical School Web sites and posting of web stats

Yellow Pages - View the UMHS Yellow Pages guidelines here.
E-mail or call Sarah Caruso with the following information:
1. Timeline: Include the weeks you would like the ad to run, including the actual date of your event or deadline for your message.
2. Content: A summary or some background on whatever you need to promote. Sarah will convert this into three lines of text.
3. Pictures: Are you looking for a specific image? If so include it in your email or describe it.
4. URL: All banner ads must accompany an up-to-date Web site for more information.
PRMC will provide you with the actual weeks your ad will be in rotation, and you will be able to see a draft of the ad prior to posting.
The schedule does fill up fast. Try to secure a date one month prior to your message's timeline.
