The Michigan Medicine Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Program for Quality Improvement (QI) helps affiliated physicians and physician assistants understand and meet requirements of their specialty boards to improve care for patients and maintain certification in their specialties. The Michigan Medicine Program is administered through the Clinical Quality Division of the Quality Department, reporting to the Chief Quality Officer.
The Michigan Medicine MOC Program for QI has been approved by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) MOC Portfolio Program to develop, monitor, and approve quality improvement efforts for ABMS MOC IHHC credit. Most ABMS Member Boards recognize this participation as an option to meet IHHC requirements.
The National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) accepts the participation of physician assistants (PAs) in activities approved through the ABMS Portfolio Program as qualifying for credit in Performance Improvement CME (PI-CME) for PAs.
The MOC Program for QI assures that documentation of QI projects within Michigan Medicine meets ABMS Program requirements and awards MOC credit to physicians (ABMS IHHC) and physician assistants (PI-CME) who participate as required in qualifying projects.
The MOC Program provides:
