Summer Science Academy

Admission

Summer Science Academy is designed for current 10th and 11th grade disadvantaged students who have a strong interest in medicine and health disparities. Although there is no required GPA to participate in SSA, selection to the program is competitive. Applicants must submit a completed application (Word or PDF), transcript, and personal statement along with science teacher and counselor recommendations. (NOTE: Please review the application before submission to ensure that it is complete and responsive.) A non-refundable fee of $100 is due upon acceptance into the program.

The fee for the 2-week program is $1,500 ($1,400 program fee and $100 enrollment deposit) and covers tuition, classroom materials, room/board, and weekend outing expenses.

Financial aid will be available to students who demonstrate a financial need; partial and full fee waivers will be granted. To be considered for financial aid, applicants must complete the Financial Aid portion of the application and submit all required information. Please send all requested information and note deadline dates.

Applications must be postmarked and mailed by Feb. 1, 2012. Students will be notified of their acceptance into the program by March 1, 2012.

2012 Application forms are available in two (2) formats, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Microsoft Word.
