Sources
There are many sources of aid available to assist students with meeting the cost of a medical education. Internal Sources are those in which the funds reside at the School, including Institutional Scholarships. External Sources are those which are borrowed through an outside lender, either the federal government or private lender in the case of Alternative Loans. To apply for these types of financial aid, a FAFSA as well as a U-M Medical School Financial Aid Application are required.
We have included tips to help search for private scholarships through the Outside Scholarship Search. Other Financial Aid Links has links to free scholarship search engines as well as helpful government web sites. Web sites for the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force are also included as these branches of the military offer service commitment scholarships to medical students, another valuable option worth exploring.
