In the 1950s, Harlem Renaissance writer Langston Hughes asked, “What happens to a dream deferred?” Today, the University of Michigan Office for Health Equity and Inclusion (OHEI) is working hard to ensure that more dreams are realized than ever before. We provide the encouragement, the resources, and the most important ingredient for success: knowledge.
Summer Science Academy (SSA)
Each summer, highly motivated high school students, who have completed 10th & 11th grade, come from across the state to U-M to experience campus and medical school life! They spend two weeks in a dorm, attend classes during the day, and participate in evening events that highlight self-development, diversity awareness, and the arts. The result? A once-in-a-life time opportunity for young adults to realize they too could have a career in medicine!
Applications for Summer Science Academy SSA 2013 will be up the last week of November 2012
Program Dates for the 2013 session are: Sunday, June 16th 2013 - Saturday, June 29th 2013.
