Pre-College Students

In the 1950s, Harlem Renaissance writer Langston Hughes asked, “What happens to a dream deferred?” Today, the University of Michigan Diversity & Career Development Office is working hard to ensure that more dreams are realized than ever before. We provide the encouragement, the resources, and the most important ingredient for success: knowledge.
Summer Science Academy (SSA)
Each summer, highly motivated high school students, who have completed 10th & 11th grade, come from across the state to U-M to experience campus and medical school life! They spend two weeks in a dorm, attend classes during the day, and participate in evening events that highlight self-development, diversity awareness, and the arts. The result? A once-in-a-life time opportunity for young adults to realize they too could have a career in medicine!
Applications for Summer Science Academy SSA 2013 will be up the last week of November 2012
Program Dates for the 2013 session are: Sunday, June 16th 2013 - Saturday, June 29th 2013.
