Jennifer Christner, M.D.

Dr. Christner graduated from The Ohio State University and received her medical degree from the University of Toledo. She completed her pediatrics residency training here at the University of Michigan and then returned to Toledo to accept a faculty position. Early in her career she was selected to become a National Faculty Development Scholar by the Academic Pediatric Association and completed advanced training in teaching and educational methods. She has since completed two additional fellowships in Medical Education as well as a Certification in Research.
While at the University of Toledo, she assisted the Dean’s Office with Faculty Development initiatives and also held the positions of Associate Residency Director, Associate Division Director and Director of Ambulatory Community and Advocacy Rotations for the Department of Pediatrics. During her final two years in Toledo she served as Director of Medical Education for the Department of Pediatrics.
Upon her return to the University of Michigan in 2007, she was appointed as Director of Pediatric Medical Student Education. Shortly thereafter she also became the Director of the Feedback on Clinical Skills Program, which allows all third year medical students to be observed in a clinical encounter and given feedback on their performance. Her research interests focus on medical education and she has been the recipient of several medical education grants as well as invited for numerous presentations nationally and internationally. Dr. Christner has also held a variety of national education leadership positions with organizations such as the Academic Pediatric Association, the Alliance for Clinical Education and the Council on Medical Student Education in Pediatrics and is the recipient of several teaching awards.
Clinically, she practices Adolescent Medicine at the Briarwood Center for Women, Children and Young Adults.
