Lift Team Manager: Lakita Pogue

Target Audience: UMHS Nurses

The purpose of the lift team is to prevent employee injury and enhance patient safety.  With back injuries being the Health System’s number one type of injury, prevention is the only reliable treatment.  Surveys of caregivers consistently demonstrate their willingness to accept back pain as part of their job, which impairs our efforts to quantify injury rates.  The goal of the Lift Team is to virtually eliminate manual lifting from the work duties of caregivers, thereby greatly minimizing or even eliminating his/her risk of injury.

The Lift Team consists of teams of three, providing service 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  Each team member has a two-way radio and may be contacted directly by the inpatient units for service.
