  • Sean Morrison, for the 2008 Harland Winfield Mossman Award in Developmental Biology from the American Association of Anatomists
  • Patrick Hu, for receiving a prestigious Sidney Kimmel Foundation for Cancer Research Scholar Award
  • Matt Velkey, PhD, for winning the University of Michigan Medical School 2008 Elizabeth Crosby Award for outstanding Basic Medical Sciences Teaching
  • Kentaro Nabeshima, Assistant Professor of Cell and Developmental Biology, for acquisition of a Basil O'Conner Scholar Research Award
  • CDB graduate students Will Zacharias and Arvind Rao for winning prestigious 2008/2009 Rackham Fellowships
  • Dr. Sun-Kee Kim, winner of the 2007 Kaiser Permanente Award for Excellence in Teaching in the Preclinical Sciences, and the 2007 Elizabeth Crosby Award for Excellence in Basic Science Teaching for the 2007 academic year. A highly deserved recognition and one for which the Department is most proud!
  • Kate Walton for successfully competing for a Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellowship.
  • Dawen Cai (Verhey Lab) was selected to receive the seventh annual ASCB Norton B. Gilula Memorial Award which recognizes an outstanding graduate or undergraduate student who has excelled in research.
  • Deb Gumucio for receiving the NICHD's Mentor Award for Excellence in Research Training for the competing submission of the Organogenesis Training Grant (T-32-HD007505).
  • Kate Barald for receiving the UROP mentorship award, 2007 (one of 5 out of 1000 mentors so honoured)
  • Sean Morrison for receiving the International Society for Hematology and Stem Cell's McCulloch and Till Award on September 30, "In recognition of exceptional scientific contributions to the field of hematology and stem cells".
