Dr. Himanshu J. Patel is an Associate Professor of Cardiac Surgery specializing in surgery for thoracic and thoracoabdominal aortic disease, and surgery for valvular and aortic root disease. He has significant experience in both open and endovascular therapy of the thoracoabdominal aorta, and minimally invasive options for valve replacement, as well as valve sparing approaches for valvular and aneurysmal disease. In addition, Dr. Patel operated at the Ann Arbor Veterans Hospital, where he was Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery from 2004 to 2009. His research interests focus on outcomes after operative and medical therapy for thoracic aortic disease and aortic valvular disease.
